The Project Management Institute (PMI) brought its Global Summit Series to Cape Town in September 2026, bringing together project professionals from across Africa and internationally for two days of learning, networking and collaboration. 

For the Cape Town edition, Booth Exhibits™ was tasked with delivering a conference-style exhibition environment, including seven custom exhibition stands and full project management within CTICC 2.

The Problem

  • Designing and building seven custom exhibition stands as part of a cohesive conference environment.
  • Delivering approximately 450m² of conference-style exhibition space, incorporating a range of interactive elements.
  • Integrating large-format LED screens, AV, interactive photo kiosks, and digital experiences seamlessly.
  • Practical implementation of flooring, electrical distribution, and hard-line internet connections required for the interactive elements.
  • Managing the exhibition build as a complete project, from initial venue mark-out through to installation, testing, and live-event support.
  • One of the biggest challenges was the venue itself: the exhibition was located on the upper floor of CTICC 2, with materials and equipment needing to be moved through a restricted lift-access system. 
  • The venue was also pre-carpeted, meaning every stand position had to be accurately mapped and marked without the usual ability to work from a clear exhibition floor.

The Solution

Booth Exhibits approached the project as both an exhibition design and build project and an event management exercise, developing a carefully sequenced installation programme that allowed multiple contractors, technical teams and stand builds to operate within the same space.

 

Key elements of the solution included:

 

  • Seven individually designed custom exhibition stands, integrated together within a consistent overall event environment.
  • Approximately 450m² of exhibition space incorporating interactive and experiential elements throughout.
  • Raised flooring planned around electrical distribution and hard-line internet requirements, ensuring cabling could be concealed safely beneath the finished stands.
  • Large LED displays and integrated AV installations to create high-impact digital focal points.
  • Interactive photo kiosks and other engagement features designed to encourage delegate participation.
  • Detailed spatial planning and venue mark-out to accurately position each stand within the pre-carpeted CTICC 2 environment.

The Result

The completed exhibition transformed approximately 450m² of CTICC 2 into a fully interactive environment for the PMI Global Summit Series Cape Town. Despite the logistical challenges of an upper-floor venue, restricted lift access, and a pre-carpeted exhibition hall, the complete installation was delivered and tested to plan.

 

Outcomes included:

 

  • Seven completed custom exhibition stands acting as info points and activation areas.
  • Approximately 450m² of custom-built exhibition space successfully installed within a logistically challenging venue.
  • Fully integrated LED, AV, internet, and electrical technology across the exhibition.
  • Interactive demo pods supplied fit-for-purpose. 
  • Successful testing of all interactive experiences before delegates entered the space.
  • Seamless management of multiple build teams, technical suppliers, and venue requirements across the three-day installation.
  • Continued on-site support throughout the two-day event to maintain quality and resolve operational requirements as they arose.
